This project is a partnership between the Patient Insight Institute and Michigan Oncology Quality Consortium (MOQC) to integrate a patient voice and perspective into existing and new projects focused on the intersection of social needs and healthcare.
About the Project
This project used a multi-phase approach, with each stage intentionally building on the last to inform the development of a practical non-medical social needs screening protocol and workflow for cancer care settings. We began with existing knowledge and a targeted literature review, then used those findings to shape qualitative interviews with practice staff. Insights from both the literature and interviews directly informed the design of a patient survey. Together, findings from all three phases guided the development of the final protocol and workflow recommendations.
This project was supported and funded by Gilead Sciences, Inc.
